Our Team
Meet the fabulous team behind Creative Tuition!
Lara Lalemi
CEO and Co-founder
I am a chemistry PhD graduate from London who has experience in organising conferences around inequality and lack of representation in higher education. I carried out my PhD at the University of Bristol within Aerosol Science, examining climate relevant compounds and photochemistry.

I have always had a passion for change and being in a STEM subject I could see the development needed to ensure those from underrepresented groups are more heard. Building on the legacy of trailblazers such as Jane Hinton and Alice Augusta Bell, two important black women in science, I have a keen interest in improving our education system so that future generations of young people can see role models that represent themselves.
Rachael Andrew (she/her)
Fundraising and Sponsorship Lead
Rachael is a final year chemistry PhD student from Devon, focusing her research on drug detection and harm reduction. Rachael has a passion for public engagement in STEM and has been a GCSE and A-Level STEM tutor alongside her PhD for the last 3 years.
Through the tutoring, Rachael was struck by the inaccessibility of current online tutoring platforms due to financial barriers. Rachael joined Creative Tuition to become a part of a platform that seeks to tackle educational barriers for low income and underrepresented students. Taking on the role of fundraising and sponsorship lead, Rachael is responsible for identifying and developing potential income streams to support the amazing work at CTC.
Candy Jiang
Tutor Administrator
Candy joined in 2021 as the tutor administrator. CTC’s drive to thrive and provide better learning opportunities for young adults is what attracted her to put her time into the organisation. Candy has over five years of experience working and volunteering for non-profits and charities such as The National Centre for Integrative Medicine, Missing Link and St Peter’s Hospice.
Currently, Candy is a PhD final-year student in analytical chemistry at Bristol University. Her research focuses on studying and improving the analysis of small molecules and natural products using mass spectrometry and computational methods. She is also a published author with five novels and one short story collection published and distributed by her national Writers Publishing House.
In her spare time, Candy enjoys practising Yoga and Barre, learning Japanese, spending time with her dogs and cats, travelling and writing. She is also an enthusiastic vintage clothes collector and dealer. Her dream is to have a farm with many animals and offer children free animal petting sessions.
Shyamli Suneesh
STEM Ambassador
Shyamli is a Robotics enthusiast by profession and artist, author, dancer, host and volunteer by passion. She is the Founder of Xplore Street, a venture that aims to support budding enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in different fields. She is also a proud recipient of the 'All India Women Achievers' Award' 2021 by Twell Magazine. She is the author of ‘Dew Drops of Life’, an anthology of poems reflecting on the journey of life. She has been part of youth initiatives since young, which help provide holistic learning experiences to aspiring ambitious people to pursue their dreams. She wishes to contribute her skills to the fields of education and healthcare for the development of the society. Marking her feat in national and international platforms, her heart longs to create huge positive impact in this world.
Daniel Polak (any/all)
Laboratory Manager
Daniel Polak (any/all) is a researcher who has worked across disciplines using laser systems to better understand how to increase solar cell efficiencies. He is interested in teaching and how the education system could better serve students. As a first-in-family student, Daniel has seen throughout his time in school, polytechnic universities and research-intensive universities, the inequalities in our academic/educational system. Daniel believes a holistic approach is required which addresses the inequalities in accessing science education, while also addressing the suppression of diverse viewpoints, and the implicitly accepted damage to mental health once access has been achieved.
Jasmin Webb
Tutor Manager
Jasmin Webb-Oriogun undertook a degree in Law and International Relations followed by a PGCE PCET (post compulsory in education and training), whilst alsoteaching and volunteering in Cambodia, Bali and Peru. It was in these countries she decided not to teach in schools, but instead her passion was found working one to one with students who needed for a number of reasons.
Now as tutor manager at CTC, Jasmin is delighted to be able train and assist all the incoming CTC tutors and show them what the organisation has to offer to help make sure all our students receive the best tuition possible.
Jasmin understands how hard school can be, especially, when you are labelled ‘loud’, ‘naughty’, ‘a troublemaker’ or ‘lazy’ when, in fact, it is quite the opposite. Jasmin will be working with not only the tutors but all the private maths students, striving to provide a fun and safe online learning experience for all CTC students.
Isi Moss (she/her)
Media and Communications Manager
Isi Moss (she/her) is a Chemistry graduate who is passionate about using science communication to widen access and participation in STEM. She believes that promoting inclusivity will equip future scientists with the diverse thinking skills needed to tackle the world’s biggest problems. She wants to amplify underrepresented voices and provide a supportive platform for all young people considering a career in STEM.
Isi loves working with young people as an outreach ambassador and has experience in managing targeted outreach projects. Isi joined Creative Tuition as the Media and Communications website manager and is looking forward to promoting Creative Tuition’s incredible work. In her free time, Isi enjoys yoga, running and cooking with friends.
Sarah Cooke
Co-founder
I began tutoring GCSE and A-Level students after finishing my Biochemistry Masters. This was a rewarding and enjoyable experience, but I became increasingly conscious of the fact that that while private tuition is an excellent tool to increasing confidence and attainment, it
is only available to those who are able to afford it.
Conversations with Lara led to the founding of Creative Tuition Collective as a direct way to address this.
